Costs

Initial questions

Before we talk about costs, I think it is important to say something about the process by which a web site is created. Let's start with a few things which I feel need clarifying:

steps in design process
  1. Why do you want a web site ?
  2. How will you judge whether your web site is successful ?
  3. Which words and phrases do you expect people to use with the search engines to find your web site ?

I will encourage you to answer these questions so that we can start with a good idea of where we are going.

Basic design

The next step is for me to gain some understanding of your business, charity, project etc. so that I can usefully contribute in the next step, which is basic design ideas. Here we start to narrow down the options with regard to layout, colours, fonts and overall structure. We may come up with several ideas which I can construct so you can make a final decision or you may decide on a single design.

Build, Test etc.

While I construct the template of your personal design, you will write the text and, maybe, collect some pictures for use on your site. I will advise about the text in terms of helping your site rank well in the search engines. I will build the site and test that everything works. You will also want to check everything. Once you're happy, I will submit the site to the search engines and carry out other tasks to help its ranking. There are more details about this on the Search Engine Optimization page.

Costs

So … costs. As I work from home, I do not have the overheads associated with maintaining an office, so I am able to keep my charges at a very reasonable rate compared with other web developers. I charge by the hour for the design, build and search engine optimisation work I do. I don't charge for the initial meeting where we discuss design ideas. This meeting is a good opportunity for us to see if we're on the same wavelength and for you to check that I'm the right person to work on your web site. Once we have had this meeting I will give you a quote for the costs of the process described above for website design, build and SEO.

Web site design, build and SEO prices depend on the number of pages you want in your web site and the complexity of the design. Some web developers offer you a choice of design from a small range of templates. That means you don't have a unique design which reflects the nature, style and philosophy of your business. With AttractMore you can have the design you want so you can stand out from the crowd and attract the customers you want in a way that is unique to you.

Here's a guide to costs but please contact me for a detailed web site quote.

The basic web site

The search engines don't take sites with less than 5 pages seriously so the minimum I offer is a 5 page site. This is good for people who need a web presence and want something economical yet attractive and functional. The cost would be around £350. The following items are included in the price

  • Up to 3 photos/images per page
  • email address and contact form
  • Basic SEO activities including submission to search engines
  • Web site hosting for one year

The Middle Way web site

A 10 page site with photos/images is something that the search engines can get their teeth into and through which you can tell the world about your business in greater depth. The cost would be around £600. The following items are included in the price

  • Up to 5 photos/images per page
  • Multiple email addresses and a contact form
  • More complex SEO activities including more targetted keywords and metadata as well as submission to major search engines and directories (where appropriate)
  • Web site hosting for one year
  • Quarterly reports on web traffic and visitor statistics

The Big One

You can have a web site with as many pages as you like with any design you like, however to give an idea of cost, let's use an example of a 30 page site. This is likely to suit a medium sized business that is serious about making their presence felt on the web. The cost is more difficult to estimate, but for 30 pages, you should be thinking in terms of £2000. The following items are included in the price

  • Unlimited number of photos/images per page
  • Multiple email addresses and a contact form
  • Top end SEO activities including copywriting advice, competitor analysis of keywords as well as using the carefully targetted keywords and metadata to give your site the best chance of moving up the search engine rankings. Submission to major search engines and directories (where appropriate) is also included
  • Quarterly reports on web traffic and visitor statistics
